These files are transfers from cassettes that I originally recorded in 1982. I was working the night shift at an electronics manufacturing company and I had a radio/cassette on my workbench that I used to tune in KRKE-AM in Albuquerque, NM. The recording was done live from radio to tape and it wasn't a real high quality device. In addition to the quality issues, there is a persistent noise in these recordings that came from one of the electronic test machines that the radio was sitting close to. It picked up some internal noise from the test equipment and put it on the tape with the show. (Sorry about that, Chief!) The episode here, Resident Killer, is the very last broadcast of CBS Radio Mystery Theater and includes an announcement from an executive at CBS Radio and Himan Brown. I have no explanation for the echo effect during those announcements. I can only assume it was accidentally put in there by the radio station because I've heard this same last broadcast from another source and the echo wasn't there.
